Fix up your Profile

Once you have created your community user account, all you need to do is personalize and update your profile. Your profile serves as a resume for project owners.

Remember to include:

- Tagline: short and sweet summary of who you are. An example would be: Recent Graduate from X University

- Bio: This section allows you to go more in-depth about your career journey, your relevant skills, and what you look forward to as you participate in the Skilbi community.

- Get to Know Me Prompts: Choose up to 5 unique questions and add your answers

- Core Skills: What are your core competencies? Choose the ones you feel represent you the best. There is no limit.

- Interests: What do you like to do for fun?

- Education: Add your education

- Experience: Add your relevant work experience

- Awards & Proud Moments: This section allows you to showcase your proudest moments whether that be running a marathon or receiving first place at a hackathon.

Search for Projects

The next step is to click on the "Project Hub" tab and look for projects you want to work on. You can filter based on company, owners, and industry.

Applying for Projects

Once you have decided you want to apply to a project, hit "Apply Now." A new window will appear with the question, "Why should you get selected for this project?"

As daunting as this question may seem, it is your time to be straightforward and show off your communication skills. Start off by giving a brief summary of who you are. Then, outline the skills you believe are relevant and will best suit the project. Explain how you developed these skills by reviewing your previous work experience. Close the message by expressing how excited you are to learn more about the project.

Here is an example:

- Project: Digital Marketing Specialist

- Answering the Question: Hello, as an early professional looking to continue enhancing my marketing acumen, my experience in community growth and management would be an excellent asset to have at your company. I have worked with different kinds of communities and have built up the knowledge and adaptability necessary to facilitate social media in a valuable way. I look forward to learning more about this position!

This example is a basic overview of how to include all the details necessary for your application. You can add more detail about previous companies and skills to really emphasize why you are a good fit for the project you are applying to.
