1. Getting ready:

Look at users' Skibi profiles, read what's listed there to get a feel for their career path and background.

2. Reflect on expectations and goals:

What do you expect out of this first meeting? What are your larger goals for the mentoring experience and what are the intended outcomes?

3. Prepare questions and icebreakers:

Write out a list of questions you would like to ask. More than likely the conversation will be quite informal and flow naturally, but having those questions listed will help you stay on track and will guide you in your discussion if necessary.

4. Express your intentions:

Introduce yourselves and set an agenda to accomplish during your first meeting. It will keep you on track and anchor you to your goals.

5. Set communication goals:

Skilbi provides a web-based communication tool for messages, tasks, and meetings to be set up. In the meetings tab, you can use any preferred video conferencing platform and add the link for your mentee to access.

6. Set an action plan:

Set clear action steps during the meeting to ensure that your mentee knows exactly what to do before your next meeting

7. Take advantage of the mentoring dashboard:

Use the tools at your disposal on the dashboard to ensure that you (mentee) drive the relationship.

8. Follow up:

If your mentor or mentee does not respond with the next steps in time, please follow up via any alternative communication method (Linkedin or emails).
